About Us
The Professional Travel Bloggers Association’s mission is to promote the interests of travel bloggers within the industry by supporting and fostering the needs, careers and relationships of travel bloggers. It aims to legitimize travel blogging as a business and facilitate business relationships within the industry.

What Our Site Does
PTBA helps Industry people search for bloggers. Travel bloggers signup and setup their profile. A freelance programmer we hired implemented features that would gather numbers automatically like Google Analytics, Twitter followers, Facebook likes, etc. These are then implemented into the profile for viewing. The search feature is for industry people so they can search for bloggers with a specific number in mind. Let’s say the industry person has a project and needs to know who’s going to be in Europe, has +1000 Facebook likes, and +5,000 Twitter followers. They can do that. They can search for a number of different things and it’s the main purpose of our site. These numbers update automatically for each profile.

The Position
We need someone that can dedicate time each week to programming on the site. You’ll be using our TeamLab to complete tasks assigned to you. A schedule of when you’d be able to complete these tasks is ideal.

You’ll also be working along side another freelance programmer that started the programming of the site. All discussions with the programmer are documented on TeamLab and you’ll need to read through some of the discussions to understand our project and what we’re looking for. All bugs and action items are recorded as tasks.
What we need is for someone to fix programming issues and implement new features. For example, new search additions, resolve bugs, fix API’s, etc.

We’d prefer to work with someone that can stick around for up to a year.

Skills
The entire website is built with WordPress. You need to know how to work with WordPress and all of its functionality. We’ve had most of the website developed already so you’ll need to be able to work with existing code.

We use a number of different WooThemes products. WooThemes Canvas is the theme, WooCommerence is our payment system, Woo Subscriptions for PayPal, and WooGroups plugin. We need someone that is very familiar with WooThemes and can create their own plugins on WordPress that can go on top and edit what we already have. The website needs to be scalable so we can update WP core and plugins.

We work with a number of different API’s like Google Analytics, Twitter, Facebook, and more. You’ll need to be familiar with many of these API’s as they are a core feature in our site.

You’ll obviously need to be an expert in PHP and MySQL.

We have a designer and you’ll need to be able to use design mockups to implement the designs that are provided by the designer. You won’t need to actually design anything but you’ll need to be able to use HTML5/CSS3 well enough to implement designs that are given to you.

Pay
We can pay either per hour or per project depending on your needs. We can only pay in PayPal. We’ll take care of any fees. Our account is based out of the US in USD. Send us your rates.
