Position Description:
The NOC Systems Engineer I will be responsible for provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting the WEB Hosting platform and customer applications for Network Operations Center (NOC).
The NOC is a 7x24 engineering and support team with duties that include deploying, supporting and troubleshooting multiple system platforms, multiple networks, databases and applications. The NOC works closely with internal and external support teams to quickly identify and bring resolution to business critical incidents/problems.
Qualifications
- 3+ YEARS experience in Systems Engineering or Systems Administration.
Qualifications Required:
- Strong administrative background in Linux and open-source technology operations environments.
- Strong Shell Scripting or programming ability in Perl, Python or Ruby languages.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills. Includes communicating technical issues to non-technical teams
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment; adapting quickly to new technologies and changing conditions.
- Previous experience with web related technologies including: HTTP, DNS, SSL, SSH, and FTP.
- Knowledge of OSI layer model, TCP/IP Networking and website platform architecture concepts
Qualifications Preferred:
- Experience in datacenter environments, equipment installation, cabling, hardware replacements/upgrades
- Familiarity with server virtualization technology such as VMware, KVM or Xen
- Familiarity with modern filesystems and content storage technologies and infrastructure
- Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Chef or Puppet
