Responsibilities:
ITIL Processes awareness and adhering to
Reporting to the Track Lead/Team Lead
Helping team members in case of Issues/Technical Problems
Handling tickets/requests
Troubleshooting technical issues
Ensuring that the processes are adhered to
Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
Responsible for successful completion of Installation, configuration and migration
Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
Responsible for building/maintaining a test environment
Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction
Implementing new technologies and design changes
Implementing Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
Applying patches/upgrades to maintain security level
Assist in implementation of WAS/Data center consolidation
Perform WebSphere Applications Server performance monitoring and implement recommendations
Day-to-Day reporting tasks
Vendor co-ordination & follow-up (Ex. Contacting IBM for PMR)
Handling tickets/requests
Technical Requirements
Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of WebSphere Applications Server.
IBM WebServer Administration and support.
Installing the WebSphere Application Server( IHS,Plug-ins,App Servers etc )
Troubleshooting Escalated Technical issues related to Middleware Infrastructure
Perform Analysis of the issues, prepare Root Cause Analysis and recommend solutions for improvements.
Performance Management & fine tuning
Configuring the Application, App server with the help of Plug-in
Bounce the Servers.
Creating and configuring the cluster environment
Monitoring and Tuning the Performance ( Checking the health of Application Server)
Troubleshooting like Page cannot be displayed
Configuring the Virtual host
Upgrading the Servers
Installing the Fix Packs.
Knowledge O.S like Windows ,Unix Flavors ( Linux , AIX , Solaris )
Creating the Profiles
Federating the Profiles
Generating and Propagating the Plug-ins
Deploying the Applications (Ear/C52War)
Enabling the LDAP Security
Creating SSL Certificates
Creating Dumps (like Heap and Thread)
Configure the Data source with EJB References
Checking & Analyzing the Log files
Analyzing the Thread and Heap Dumps.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
Good documentation skills
Good working knowledge of MS Office (Including MS word, Excel, MS Project and Visio)
Should have a great customer handling skills
Able to handle unforeseen situations
High level of acceptance
Can drive clients value and its methodology
Other Skills/Experience
Worked on Production systems
Datacenter understanding
Experience with Server Migration, Installation, Upgrades and Patching
Experience on following will be added advantage
Samba
DNS
NIS+
LDAP
Monitoring Tools (like BMC Patrol, HP open view, IBM Tivoli, wily)
Certification requirements:
IBM Certified WebSphere Applications Server Core ND
ITIL v3 foundation
