Release/Initiative Manager - Banking - London - Up to £500 per day
Purpose of the Project/Programme
A leading Retail Bank is seeking an experienced Initiative/Release Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of Services solutions across the Groups retail and commercial customers.
Purpose of the role
Define project scope and deliverables
Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders
Estimate the resources required for the project
Draft and submit budget documents
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate staff
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
Core Skills and Experience
Must demonstrate experience of Object Orientated methodology (OO, RUP) & ability to produce UML artefacts (Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, State Diagrams, Use Case Modeling)
Experience of previous eCommerce projects within Banking - specifically portal projects
Experience of working on complex projects within Banking institutions, especially within a Transaction Banking environment.
Strong negotiation skills and effective communicator, both written and verbal at all levels
Exceptional stakeholder management skills at all levels
Proven track record of successful projects
Mobilise and lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the business and IT deliverables of the project
Drive the team to ensure that focus is maintained on achieving meaningful business outcomes in a timely manner by shaping the delivery approach, influencing the direction of the project prioritising area's of focus and ensuring the team have the resources and time to meet commitments
Engage other IT platforms to co-ordinate and deliver platform dependencies
Co-ordinate the collation of cost estimates, undertake robust assurance.
Engage senior stakeholders to shape the direction and outcomes of the project; prepare and present key business decisions for approval articulating trade-offs between scope, solution, customer and operational impacts
Produce robust and well-structured plans that clearly show key dependencies, assumptions and the critical path such that the schedule can easily demonstrate different planning scenario's
Exercise good project management controls in terms of reporting, resource management and change control
Undertake risk and issue management ensuring that effective treatment strategies are identified and plans to resolution are executed for both delivery and operational risks
