PHP Wordpress Developer (freelance)

Description

We are looking for a freelance/contractual Wordpress developer to assist us with development projects on an as-needed, hourly basis. For the right candidate, there is a high probability for this position to become a regular part-time job (with commitment of about 20-25hrs a week). We use time tracking software for computing payments.

Who are we?
We are a well-established developer-designer duo and have a good client base and reputation in the market worldwide. We like adventure, traveling and working remotely. We believe in a five hour work-day and the rest is for 'life' :). And so we are looking for someone with a similar set of interests (and also with exceptional wordpress skills!). In a prospective team member, we are looking for honesty, enterprise, curiosity and sincerity. Everything else can be worked out.

Who are we looking for?

4+ years of web development, using HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Javascript.

Must be able to work with jQuery to create AJAX calls for data and be familiar with web services, particularly RESTful style.

Expertise with JSON and XML for parsing documents and data returned from (mostly internal) web service calls.

PSD to Wordpress conversion capabilities

Comprehensive knowledge of Wordpress (installation, configuration, development, advanced features)

Quick learner and attention to detail

Strong project and time management skills

Good with cPanel and WHM

Additional skills that would help and will be preferred:

Linux shell experience a huge plus; sysadmin experience even bigger plus.

Comfortable with version control systems (SVN and GIT) (We use GIT. You are going to have to learn it if you're unfamiliar with it.)

Comfortable with the command line interface.

Working knowledge of MVC architecture. (Please list what all platforms you have worked on)

Familiarity with a variety of web libraries for various languages, such as: Twig (PHP Templating), PHPExcel, Bootstrap, jQuery UI & Mobile, HighCharts, Google Visualization API. Knockout.js

Please list if you have any other additional skills that you think could come in handy.

Responsibilities:
You will be working with a project manager who has a good knowledge in Wordpress. Your main responsibility will be to work with him and build websites in Wordpress right from scratch. You will be developing themes, plugins, widgets, templates etc. Later on, if you have skills on other platforms, you will be working on different platforms as well.

Commitments:

You will be assigned to a project for about a month that would involve about 20hrs a week. If everything goes well your position will be made permanent with 25hrs a week commitment (5 hrs a day)
