Description

Following a restructuring of Learning and Achievement Services in Worcestershire Children's Services, an SEN Team Manager is needed for the SEN, Inclusion and Assessment team.
Whilst you need to know your way around the SEN Code and the regulations, you also need to be able to apply the framework creatively and in a way that contributes to our strategic priorities, as well as having a broad knowledge of the work of the education service.
Our strategic priorities include:
* To reduce our reliance on out of authority non-maintained and independent schools
* To enhance the capacity, confidence and competence in mainstream schools
* To enable children to go to school locally

With a geographical responsibility covering half of the County, you will be responsible for:
* leading and overseeing statutory SEN processes
* leading and managing a team of caseworkers and administrative staff
* developing casework management processes so that there are invisible joins in the progression of children with high level needs from pre-school to school, and then from pre-16 to post 16 provision
* securing and sustaining effective links and collaborative working with specialist fieldwork services

So you need to be:
* fluent with the regulations and guidance that underpin the statutory SEN process
* successful in resolving disagreements
* a creative thinker who can think out of the box
* able to apply the regulatory framework to different scenarios
* experienced and credible in working with school leaders, SENCOs and parents
* determined, resilient and able to thrive on the challenges that this area of work presents.(We know its hard!)

These are exciting and challenging times for SEN in Worcestershire.
* Established pre-school multi-agency forums are led by a SEN Manager and co-ordinate integrated responses to the under 5s with special educational needs.
* Our mainstream autism base provision is being reviewed so that we can reshape into a structure that meets current needs.
* Our new SEN funding scheme is being developed for implementation later this year
* We are developing stronger links with Partners to deliver preventative services as well as specialist services for pupils and students with higher level needs.

The SEN team has recently been reconfigured and this presents an opportunity for all three SEN Team Managers (of which this is one post) to develop together a strong and skilled team that build on the progress that their energy and commitment has secured over the last 12 months.
