Job title: Data Management Lead

Our financial services client is urgently seeking an experienced Data Management Lead.

Key responsibilities:

CDM - Accountable for the enterprise data model ensuring it is up to date and in use.

Projects - Accountable for the sign-off of data models produced by projects, ensuring they are aligned to the enterprise data model and data architecture principles.

Data Architectures and Inventories - Accountable for ensuring maximum re-use of data through identification of common data items across multiple initiatives linking them to data repositories. Accountable for developing a clearly documented data landscape including systems of record and reference. Defining the role and usage of data stores within our federated data architecture.

Data Management Strategy - Accountable for working with Enterprise Architecture to develop our strategy for managing data.

Tools - Responsible for understanding tool selection for any projects they are involved in, assessing the fit with the tools strategy and escalating when necessary.

Team leading - Accountable for the resource management of their team including understanding current and pipeline tasks, aligning tasks to the overall team objectives and prioritising accordingly, ensuring individual objectives and activities are aligned to these priorities.

Team development - Responsible for developing their team in both subject matter and softer skills. Responsible for ensuring that each team member has a development plan which accurately describes development needs aligned to goals of the team and their personal development, and provides a practical plan for filling them. Provides coaching and mentoring to team members, when appropriate delivers presentations and training to up-skill others in the wider team.

Inform Methodologies/Frameworks - Responsible for inputting into the society change and risk management frameworks to ensure alignment to the data governance framework eg Datamodelling.

Key skills:

Proven Track Record - Proven experience of data architecture and corporate Datamodelling for several large complex organisations. Experience of developing and implementing metadata and masterdata strategies.

IM Foundations - Strong knowledge of full IM life cycle including documented requirements, data management, integration, storage & modelling, reporting and analytic tools and overall solution.

Enabling Technology - Experience of identifying requirements associated with effective data management technologies including modelling, masterdata and metadata. In addition a good knowledge of these areas of the vendor landscape.

Methods - Experience at multiple companies and/or of formal gated methodologies for Datamodelling and architecture (Home grown, Consulting or Academic). This should extend to recognised techniques for managing data eg Zachman, bDat (Togaf).

Leadership & Communication - Highly influential with exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Team Management - Experience of managing small teams in either BAU or project mode

In addition to experience listed above a Batcholor's degree (2.1 preferred) in a relevant subject would be desirable but not essential.
