Switch Site Engineer

Work Locations - Oslo (Norway)

Language - English, Norwegian-Swedish-Danish.

Travel - Travelling to switch locations within Norway will be required.

General Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform data backups as per scheduled requirements.
  • Coordinate link testing for BTS or Control room faults.
  • Participate in software and/or hardware upgrades of the switch sites.
  • Keep accurate records of the switch site configuration.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections on designated equipment according to customer requirements.
  • Diagnose and restore faults at the switch site down to Field Replaceable unit (FRU) level.
  • Removal from site of faulty equipment and assist with logistics tasks of the equipment back to customer designated locations.
  • Undertake infrastructure integration and commissioning activities in line with the project plan.
  • Ensure that faults are responded to promptly and fault restoration activities are carried out in accordance with the customer requirements.
  • Liaise with the Level 2&3 support teams when they require assistance to gather requested diagnostic information.
  • Assist in maintaining the documentation of the Nodnett system.
  • Provide in country technical support to the Nodnett project infrastructure roll out program.
  • Provide in country technical support to the Nodnett migration program.
  • Self-management of assigned tasks to meet required project milestones.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required.
  • Submit and pass any security clearance checks as required by the Customer.

Specific Knowledge/Skills

  • In depth knowledge of Motorola Dimetra release 6.2 and 8.0 systems.
  • In depth knowledge of Motorola Command and Control interfaces.
  • HNC or equivalent in telecommunications, engineering or computer sciences.
  • 3-5 years experience Installing, commissioning, managing and maintaining, digital radio.
  • The engineer must have IP and IT knowledge and be capable of repairing or restoring equipment at a site by employing IP and IT diagnostics. The individual would therefore be capable of using remote terminal emulation diagnostics, computer self diagnostic interpretation and other related skills to perform equipment restoration and or repair.
  • Knowledge of the Integrated Command and Control systems (ICCS) used by the end customers.
  • Clear communication skills to provide accurate reporting information and assistance to the customer.
