Pay Rate: $81.00 per hour.

Under general supervision, this position exists to assist the organization in making strategic data-related decisions by analysing, manipulating, tracking, managing and reporting data. This position functions both as consultant and as a high-level programmer. 

Work as a team member within a large group of highly skilled programmer analysts and clinicians charged with the development of analytic databases and reporting derived from  complex operational systems. Provide analytic and programming support to key functional areas. Assists in developing technical solutions and serving customers. 

Our department emphasizes team work and the sharing of expertise. 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: 

Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy degree, licensed in the state where position resides. 
Officially actively licensed in California as a pharmacist 
Recommended degree in computer science or IT related field. 

QUALIFICATIONS 
Position requires experience with & knowledge of Databases, health care utilization reporting & analytical computer software. Experience with SQL programming language and a working knowledge of Oracle Databases strongly recommended. 
A Pharmacy Clinical Practice Residency or ambulatory care practical experience or equivalent practical experience strongly recommended. 
Project management experience including the management of timelines, resources, and discussions with clients preferred. Documentation skills with a slant toward technical writing recommended. 
Ability to evaluate, analyze, summarize, and draw appropriate conclusions using medical evidence including medical literature, drug literature, and computer reports (drug & medical utilization data). Ability to summarize information in the form of summary reports, spreadsheets, data tables. 
Ability to effectively educate, advocate, and inform. This includes the ability to properly prepare and give credible and informative presentations to committees, students, medical staff, and related health care professionals. Must have effective communication skills and the ability to inform Physicians and other Providers. 
Possess good organizational skills and the ability to properly prioritize a substantial number of time critical activities to meet departmental goals and objectives. 
Familiarity with electronic data processing, information storage and retrieval, and the use of personal computers and database Servers to effectively organize, communicate, present, document, and analyze information. 
Ability to provide both verbal and written information with sufficient credibility to influence the delivery of health care applications and reports. 
Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to drug usage, disease states, and medical management plans. 
Comprehensive knowledge of common disease states, pathologies, prognosis, and treatment. 
Ability to interact with health care professionals during an inquiry to gather information needed to competently respond to the request, and then to properly research, analyze, and respond in an accurate, credible, supportive, and timely manner. 
Knowledge of laws, regulations, and standards relative to the practice of Institutional Pharmacy. 
Knowledge of industry sources of drug information and how they use information for promotional purposes. 

DUTIES: 
Integrate clinical experience/knowledge in the development of applications and/or reports to meet client requirements. 
Extracts data for analysis and interpretation. 
Prepares reports in accordance with the analytical results. 
Designs and refines efficient transformation algorithms according to business rules. 
Performs validation procedures to ensure data quality. 
Develops new databases and contributes to the creation of programming standards 
Acts as database content expert and interfaces with end users and department resources. 
Participates in the development of outcomes and process measures, including technical specifications, to enable population measurement, guideline implementation, and evaluation. 
Builds and maintains complex routines and reporting using automations, macros, vendor software, and software written by self and others. Tests and maintains data integrity across multiple databases and environments. 
Defines and frames complex multi-dimensional healthcare issues and develops time tables/processes for decision making. 
Translates needs, issues, and ideas into effective strategies and action plans. Formulates specific implementation plans and evaluates the effectiveness of actions/programs implemented. 
Develops creative alternative solutions. 
Works closely with clinicians, IT and outside partners. 
May coordinate team/project activities and schedules. May assist in the determination of goals and priorities with team, clients, or project management sponsors. May provide leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams. 
Communicates results/recommendations to project sponsors, clients, and various senior level audiences.
