A passionate and confident French teacher is required for an exciting position starting after the Easter break. A Client Secondary School (11-16) requires a qualified languages teacher (QTS/NQT) to cover a maternity leave in their high achieving languages department, initially up until December 2013. The Head of MFL has indicated that this position could become permanent for the right candidate.

You will join a friendly languages department and work alongside 4 permanent teaching staff and 2 part time teaching assistants. The current timetable for this role will be 70% French at both Key stage 3 and Key stage 4, whilst also having 30% responsibility for Spanish at KS3. Ideally you will be an assured teacher with a firm classroom presence and the ability to engage pupils with varying levels of ability.

The School is located just 15 minutes away from junction 24 of the M60 motorway; access via public transport is straight forward from the central and south Manchester areas. There is on site parking available to staff and for public transport users the metro link service has a stop around 10 minutes walk from the Schools grounds. The majority of pupils on roll are from a white British heritage and the School has around 25% of pupils who speak English as a second language, which is lower than the national average.

Pupils in School make better than average progress and often leave KS4 with higher than average levels of attainment. The School works closely with Primary Schools in the surrounding areas to continually enrol pupils of similar backgrounds and ability, which creates a friendly and family atmosphere throughout. Pupils are on the whole well behaved and enthusiastic towards the levels of teaching delivered by staff.

In recent years the School has improved measurably and GCSE results have steadily rose in most subjects, noticeably Languages and Maths. The Head teacher has highlighted the importance of a stimulating curriculum which allows pupils to achieve their full potential and progress on to further education.

The successful applicant for this post will need to have NQT or QTS in the UK and experience delivering French to KS4 pupils.
