Description
The Role of a H&S Advisor to Projects- Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, near-misses and unsafe behaviour/conditions, and the determination and implementation of suitable corrective and preventive actions. Promote a culture of reporting on site. Ensure all such incidents are immediately reported to the HSE Manager.
NB: Management of the reports and actions via the company system and liaise with authorities as appropriate (e.g. RIDDOR/HSA or HSE visits) will be the responsibility of the HSE Manager, who will also manage the close out of corrective and preventive actions for any accidents/near-misses deemed as significant.
- Assist PM and Service staff with project/site related H&S issues
- Advise on queries over legal requirements
- Support development of site HS&E plans/statements
- Assist in carrying out site inductions / certificate checks / plant checks
- Assist with delivery of training / toolbox talks
- Perform joint site inspections with the site manager
- Carry out HSE "coaching" audits with variety of staff and contractors and issue audit reports to the site manager
- Assist site/project manager with development and implementation of remedial actions
- Assist with H&S and Environmental input into the site weekly report
- Assist in interpretation of CDMC/PC H&S file requirements
- Become a "critical friend" to Site Manager, Project Manager, Contractors and other site staff.
- Build a strong working relationship with client, CDMC and contractor's HSE staff.
Requirements for a H&S Advisor to Projects
- An excellent knowledge of the legal HSE context in the country.
- An ability to objectively analyse situations and develop practical solutions.
- Self-reliance. H&S Advisors will often be required to give specialist support to under-pressure PM and Service colleagues in the site teams.
- Ability to work in a structured way ensuring that company systems are followed.
- Good health and a good head for heights!
