Responsibilities
  • Installs new software releases and system upgrades
  • Evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
  • Performs system backups and recovery.
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Performs a variety of tasks as required.
  • Engineering of solutions for various project and operational needs.
  • Assists the data center located engineers with server installations, configurations, builds, and removals
  • Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  • Project work: gather requirements, make design, implement design

SKILLS

Bachelor's degree with a technical major or equivalent experience required. Must have Systems Administration certification in Microsoft and a minimum of four years of system administration experience. Must have experience with the following: Windows Server Administration in an enterprise environment; Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008R2; MS Office Tools - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project, and Outlook. VMWare 4.x & 5.x: Must have familiarity with its architecture and how to use the vSphere Client. Basic familiarity with Microsoft IIS, Active Directory, Failover Clusters, and SQL Server needed. Basic Scripting skills with VBS and/or Powershell necessary. Must have basic SAN/fibre connects and NAS knowledge. as well as knowledge of basic backup and recovery in an enterprise (TSM and Netbackup knowledge). Experience working with server monitoring tools like HP Ops Manager, SCOM and SCCM, experience working with server Anti-Virus tools, and experience with on-call operational support required. Must have experience working with server configuration checking tools and HP Server Hardware (Blades and Rack mount), as well as Network VLAN high level concepts - Understand why VLANs are used. Must understand Firewall high level concepts and be able to request application required Firewall rules. Must be a SharePoint power user (not admin skills but how to use its features well). Must be a good writer of technical documents and clear/concise emails. Must be a team player - respectful, shares information, asks for help when doesn't know something, helps others, shows appropriate amounts of urgency when needed. Must have good attention to details.
