Linux engineer -Boulder,CO(MY CLIENT DOES NOT SPONSOR A WORK VISA)
My client is one of the most reputed names in Finance worldwide, and is currently looking for a talented Linux (Puppet, Chef, CFEngine, Nagios) engineer to join their newly opened office in theBoulder,COregion. In this role, you will be responsible for replacing the legacy environment inBoulderthat was acquired after taking over another company. You will be in charge of changing, improving, and newly building an open source based infrastructure. Also, you will be working as part of a global team and help out with any other Linux projects worldwide - examples of projects: automating of infrastructure, application logging, extension of the entire estate of 1500 servers. A one week a month on call rota will be part of this job.
Your tasks will consist of:
- Engineering new Linux-based solutions as required by business, product, or technology teams.
- Providing production support to critical Linux systems.
- Participation in an on-call and out-of-hours support rota
- Improving the productivity of the Linux team through automation with Chef, Puppet
- Automating though Perl or Python scripting
- Building a monitoring environment through Nagios and scripting
- Troubleshooting and automated configuration of application servers, web servers, mail services and other Linux services
Your technical profile:
- minimum of 5 years working experience with red hat and other open source Linux system administration
- experience designing open source automation and monitoring infrastructure (Chef, Nagios or equivalent
- Strong scripting skills in Perl/Python
- Advanced networking knowledge
Soft skills:
- excellent communication skills
- you are capable of working on a global team
- understanding of business objectives
- you are professional enough to deal with a non-perfect environment, and find the challenge in wanting to improve this
- you are not afraid to take on major linux projects and at the same time also know how to deal with more boresome tasks
