Negotiation Manager

Role

To act as a source of authoritative advice on cost and production rates to the business. To develop a decision making intelligence function from the cost database. To lead the CIM team to ensure business requirements are met. To work with commercial colleagues to develop and grow the capability of the cost engineering function and commercial expertise in the wider business.

Responsibilities

  • Source of authoritative advice on cost and production rates; and provide practical advice on construction methodology and associated timescales
  • A key member in the Target Cost Negotiations team.
  • Develop decision making intelligence from the cost database and ensure integrity of the datasets.
  • Lead, develop and manage a CIM team
  • Lead work to develop commercial approaches throughout the Directorate to improve feedback and data in relation to process and cost intelligence
  • Contribute to reviews of activities and approaches that will drive continuous improvement in the cost engineering function across the Directorate.

Experience

  • Experienced Cost Engineer in Civil Engineering/manufacturing Sector with recent extensive experience of Contracting and Consulting;
  • Demonstrable expertise in understanding proposals and tenders, developing cost modelling techniques and labour and overhead rates derivation cost engineering competences, and awareness of a broad range of other cost engineering competences.
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a complex structured project and programme management environment to tight deadlines
  • Able to engage effectively with staff at all levels and with different technical understanding
  • Proven ability to manage a team to deliver successful outcomes for internal change programmes
  • Ability to use Microsoft Project or similar planning tools effectively
