My client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their exciting London based tech startup.This is a tremendous opportunity to join a high profile/growth venture backed business with an awesome team that is making some major waves.The right candidate will join the engineering team based in Shoreditch, and will be instrumental in architecting, designing, building, and scaling the clients technology platform.

You will be working as part of a small but growing team following Agile software development practices. They embrace TDD using tools such as Cucumber and Rspec, use Continuous Integration, and the highest priority is rapidly delivering value to their customers and business stakeholders. At the same time they place a high value on clean, maintainable, and well-designed code.They are looking for a passionate and highly motivated developer who shares their values.

In this role my client will in particular be looking for a software engineer with experience building high performance and scalable APIs on top of a service oriented architecture.You will have experience with multiple frameworks and languages, are not dogmatic, and are adept at choosing the simplest and most pragmatic solutions to the problems at hand.

Required skills

*Expert knowledge of enterprise architecture patterns, OO design, Design patterns, and Refactoring

*Test driven development

*Multiple Languages/Frameworks - Some Ruby necessary; Rails, Sinatra, Java/JRuby all a plus

*Web server infrastructure - Apache, Passenger, Thin, Nginx, caching technologies

*Databases - SQL and NoSQL - Neo4j, MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres, Memcached, Redis all a plus

*API development - REST, JSON, OAuth

*Web development - HTML, CSS, Javascript, Coffeescript, AJAX, JQuery, HAML, SASS a plus

*Testing frameworks - Cucumber, RSpec , Capybara a plus

*Other relevant technologies in the Ruby ecosystem

*Expertise in application troubleshooting, debugging, and performance evaluation and tuning

Experience

*7+ years software development experience

*2+ years development within a services oriented architecture environment

*1+ years Ruby development experience

*Previous experience in a technical leadership role a plus

*Experience building and scaling large internet applications highly desired
