Description

The Windows Server Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and support of the company's Windows Server environment.

Responsibilities
  • System Monitoring including performance and event logs.
  • Participates in areas of technical innovation and cost saving improvements.
  • Performs hardware and software installation, configuration and maintenance.
  • Executes approved configuration changes to Servers.
  • Evaluates and applies system and security patches to ensure the security and stability of the environment.
  • Ensures proper configuration and maintenance as well as ensure backups are made of systems to allow for recovery of systems and data.
  • Monitors system capacity. Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes.
  • Coordinates with appropriate management personnel in implementing changes.
  • Identifies work-arounds for known issues and documents steps to implement.
    Documents daily to large/complex tasks using excellent and detailed documentation skills.
  • Performs problem diagnosis and root cause analysis.
  • Incident Management - Performs troubleshooting of incidents that are not well defined and consult with senior analysts on correct resolution steps.
  • Change Management - Documents change implementation plans and executes the plans reviewed and approved by senior analysts.
  • Performs basic to moderately complex changes following standard change management processes.
    Asset Management - Understands asset tracking as it pertains to department and the company as a whole.
  • Ensures accuracy and timely notification if inaccuracies are found.
SKILLS

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Management. Equivalent experience can be substituted with a demonstrated pursuit of ongoing education, certifications or technical learning. Solid knowledge and working experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems needed, including but not limited to the following components: Installation, Patching, Security, Networking, System Internals, Powershell, Printing, Clustering, IIS, Management Tools, Scripting, Performance Tuning, Terminal Services. Microsoft Active Directory: must have a thorough understand of AD and the services it provides such as DNS, WINS, DHCP, DFS, KMS, etc. Experience with Domain Migrations and Consolidations is required. Must have experience with Microsoft Windows File Servers and NAS (Network Attached Storage). Familiarity with the following software and tools is a plus: McAfee Products including ePO/VSE/HIPS/Safeboot/AntiSpyware/GroupShield; BMC Products including Bladelogic/CMDB/ITSM/Patrol; Hardware Vendors (HP, NetApp, Hitachi); Citrix; and Microsoft IIS.

The candidate will need to be strong in Windows Server and Active Directory. Must have advanced knowledge of other Microsoft Windows Server products including Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008R2, 2012. Experience with medium and large datacenters is needed, as is knowledge of IT Service Management terms and processes.
