Responsibilities
  • Provides design and implementation support for network management systems and distributed control systems for public safety Customer account.
  • Works with a team including sales, system integrators, product engineers, third-party suppliers and program managers to provide control system solutions for communication systems.
  • Responsibilities include devising technical strategies, remote terminal application development, HMI application development, control systems architecture and detailed design work, determining equipment layouts, and conducting system staging and system testing.
  • Participates in making Customer presentations.
  • Generates implementation plans and system test reports. During certain points in project life cycle -- such as staging, acceptance testing and functional testing -- some travel and significant field work is required.

SKILLS

Excellent troubleshooting skills required at both the system level and at the application level. Must be highly proficient in PLC programming in a Real Time, distributed system (C, C++, Ladder Logic); highly proficient in networking protocols (HDLC, MODBUS, TCP/IP). Must be highly proficient in HMI development (Wonderware, Adventnet). Working knowledge of data transport technology (T1, RS232, RS485, wireless, optical) is required, as is working knowledge of standard SCaDA digital I/O; contact forms and abbreviations (form-A, B, C, NO, NC, SPST, SPDT, DPDT, etc.). Working knowledge of standard SCaDA analog I/O (4-20mA, -5 to +5V, 0-5V, 1-5V). Experience with RF voice and data systems is strongly preferred. Experience in similar engineering positions is highly desired. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences. Must be able to work effectively with other employees, customers and consultants with minimal supervision.
