Compliance case review analyst:

Core Purpose of the Role:

  • The primary objective of the Compliance Case Review Analyst is to ensure the quality of the case review work performed by the Assessment and Redress teams within the project. This includes:
    • Quality control reviews of case assessments made by the Assessment team
    • Quality control reviews of the redress proposals made by the Redress Analysis team
  • The Compliance Case Review Analyst is responsible for reviewing customer files to validate whether the Assessment outcome and Redress recommendation for individual cases are in accordance with the agreed methodologies for Assessment and Redress, as well as the FSA rules governing interest rate hedging products sales, and also that the Assessment and Redress outcomes do no conflict.

Accountabilities:

  • Validating whether the Assessment Outcome reached follows agreed assessment methodology and can be supported by the information on file
  • Validating whether the Redress Recommendation proposed follows the agreed redress methodology and is a fair and appropriate outcome for the customer, and can be supported by the information on file
  • Ensuring that case files are of an acceptable standard.
  • To review cases as assigned within baseline timescales.
  • Completion of a case review template assessing whether the assessment outcome and redress proposal are in accordance with the agreed methodology and guidelines, can be supported by the evidence on file, are easily understandable, and above all are fair and appropriate for the customer.
  • To identify instances where the assessment outcome and/or redress outcome do not meet the criteria set out above.
  • Feedback material comments/issues to the relevant team.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the team SME.
  • Identifying when a case needs to be escalated to the Release Panel and informing the team SME.

Key capabilities and knowledge:

  • Demonstrates a good understanding of the FSA's regulatory requirements for the sales of interest rate derivative products.
  • A working knowledge of interest rate derivative products.
  • Has some experience in Commercial Banking.
  • Has a good knowledge in regulatory investigation and resolution processes.
  • Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Is used to working under tight project deadlines.
  • Has the ability to escalate where appropriate.
  • Ability to work well as an individual and as part of a team.

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of interest rate derivatives and their use in commercial banking.
  • TCF (Treating Customers Fairly)
  • Can demonstrate a working knowledge of interest rate derivative transactions (desirable).
  • Knowledge of good regulatory practices and quality assurance business review controls.

Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years in financial service, risk management or advisory compliance.
  • Recent Derivative/Loan/Insurance & swaps in Investment Banking or Financial Services experience.
  • Professional qualification.
