Senior Procurement Consultant

Purpose:

To procure goods and services in a timely manner, helping with special projects, and performing routine follow up functions with full procurement authority, within SOX guidelines, and monitored by management. To mentor consultants at the Procurement Consultant level in the department.

Accountabilities:

1. Places orders for the MAS region, assists AP to resolve PME issues, works with team leaders and management on special projects as needed.
2. Places complex orders for Laboratory and Hospital departments.
3. Represents MAS interests on national teams that support the materials function.
4. Schedules deliveries of supplies and ensures that established schedules are met. Works with vendors and suppliers to determine causes of late deliveries and works to expedite such deliveries where feasible. Ensures that emergency supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
5. Works with Biomedical Engineering to coordinate repair of medical equipment.
6. Informs suppliers of unsatisfactory materials, supplies, equipment and services. Initiates claims with suppliers to obtain refunds or replacements.
7. Advises management of unusual situations or of requests for items that are in violation of national contracts and national standards set by Program office.
8. Works with end user to provide information regarding items that are on contract or are national standards.
9. Edits and reviews purchase orders to make sure all SOX criteria are met.
10. Trained as a Purchasing Team Lead to assist the department when needed. This includes training on issuing Capital POs, issuing POs for Special Projects, updating the item master, managing the customer service line, etc.

Required Experience:

1. Three years of experience in a supply distribution environment, with one year in a purchasing department.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of a medical supply purchasing system.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting, time management, inventory management and computer literacy.

Desired Experience:

1. Supervisory or mentoring experience preferred.

Minimum Education Requirement:

1. High School Diploma or GED required.
