A contract opportunity exists for a Senior Technical Officer to join this large scale Queensland Government Department on an initial 6 month contract opportunity.

The Senior Technical Officer will be responsible for the software packaging and distribution capability for the running project in accordance with organisation standard practices.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Technical Officer will be as follows:
Create & develop MSI & software install packages as per internal standards. Documenting any & all changes carried out to existing MSI's using internal standards and document templates. Document all newly created MSI's using internal standards and document templates. Testing deployment & installation of all packages via Novell Zenworks to internal standards and best practices. Maintain a high level of communication with all business owners & stakeholders for who the software package is being developed. Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with internal core values, as outlined above. Develop, test and configure Microsoft Installer packages (MSI) and the associated Novell Application Launcher (NAL) objects for the applications and services within the agreed scope of the project. Package, test and document software to be distributed. Ensure compliance to organisational standards that relate to packaging and documentation. Provide sound advice and recommendations regarding technical specialisms and their application. Utilise design standards, methods and tools, consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and modify or adapt these methods and tools where appropriate. Actively participate in a team of specialist technical resources in the delivery of complex technical solutions.

To be successful for this role you will hold the following key experience, skills and attributes; Demonstrated ability or the ability to quickly learn HP Openview Service Desk and ITIL Service Management processes, primarily incident/problem/test/change and configuration management. Knowledge of or an ability to install and configure software, hardware and/or equipment, and test these products to ensure quality, within a large scale IM/ICT organisation. Ability to analyse, document and implement IM/ICT changes as required, within a large IM/ICT organisation. Experience in the build, documentation and implementation of technical solutions within best practice IM/ICT design and delivery frameworks for large scale complex organisations. Skills in one or more of the following technologies is essential; MSI Packaging using Installshield. Scripting such as VBScript or PowerShell. Application deployment technologies Novell ZenWorks. Proven ability to work in a team environment developing effective working relationships with team members and stakeholders. Oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively prepare instructions, reports and system documentation.
