I am currently looking for a Windows System administrator to work in the Hague, the Netherlands.

Duration: 3 months, with extension possibilities.

Tasks
First of all one of your main tasks will be to administer the Servers: you will ensure that all systems are secure, well managed, backed up and monitored. In addition you'll take care of hardware en OS installations and maintenance.

The main part of the installed base of the windows Servers are running on Windows 2000, Windows 2003 and XP, you will be responsible for installing and maintenance of the windows packages and patches, a knowledge and appreciation of UNIX and Linux systems will improve your chance as a candidate to be selected.

Further on you will maintain system security, monitor the operating environments, assist with resolving problems and recommend changes for improving performance.
As part of your administer task you will also be asked to maintain basic applications (services) in the windows server park like DNS, LDAP, NFS, DHCP, Radius, Mail, Apache and FTP and to provide systems administration support to the Database Administrators.
In addition to your administer activities you will also be managing the platform processes: In this role you are responsible for managing availability including disaster recovery and will participate in analysing problems and find solutions.

You will participate in the review of new releases and vendor-supplied patches. You are expected to research new technologies and present recommendations on new hardware and software purchases.
For the new office situation experience with building and maintaining Windows Active Directory, Exchange, DNS is required. For workstations you will be 3rd line support.

The last set of your activities are all about communication and administrative duties. This will consist of documenting and logging all changes to system software and configurations by the use of the trouble ticketing, incident report and change management tools. You contribute to the internal knowledge management system by adding workarounds, resolutions, manuals related to platforms and administered systems.

And finally you have a personal interest to join system administrator and security communities to be aware of the latest trends in the market. You are eager to share knowledge with fellow system administrators and organize internal training sessions where needed.
