Financial Controller - Financial Accounting & Reporting:World class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a Financial Controller.
The contract is initially for 6 months (ongoing after). The hourly rate will be £16 - £18 per hour.
You do not need to hold current SC Security Clearance; however you must be eligible to be cleared to this level.
Accountabilities:
• Define the role's specific responsibilities i.e. what is must deliver.
• Monthly preparation of business' UAE consolidated accounts and UAE statutory accounts & any supporting evidence for Hd.of Fin.Acc. & Group Finance
• Preparation and completion of monthly FLASH Natco and Group schedules including orders, sales and margin - understanding variances and presenting to Senior Finance and Group
• Preparation of CODIR & Core Natco review to agreed format, understanding key variances and presenting data to Senior Finance
• Control and management of VAT issues including
• preparation and completion of Qtly vat returns for UK ,France, Europaams & Eurosam
• preparation and reconciliation of VAT control accounts
• liaising with UK Tax Manager and HMRC representative
• HMRC intrastats & EC sales production
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations for specific accounts including CSR,GRNI ,insurance rechargeable debtors ,equity and others .
• Management and production of qtly Negative WIP report including ½ & yr
• Assist Finance Manager in preparation of Budget and 5 yr ISBP
• Act as deputy to Finance Manager -specifically attend meetings in absence, cover for preparation and production of business' UK mthly consol.
• Develop, train & cover if required to and motivate junior staff to ensure they are aware of and capable of delivering their objectives
• specific cover hierarchy, GL accounts, intercompany, payroll ,OSM
• Assist in Financial accounting and business reporting improvement plan including recommend, develop and implement procedures and controls
Skills and Knowledge:
• Define the general and specific skills and knowledge required to carry out the role.
• Experienced non qualified accountant with knowledge of Financial Accounting and VAT.
• Good IT skills, ideally an understanding of SAP and excel. Commercial and finance awareness, understand what's required to meet internal and external customer requirements
• Able to prepare budgets and business plans
• Provide financial support to teams including advice to management for decision making
