Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.- Provide routine support duties in all exploration functions including creation of cross-sections, digitized maps, PowerPoint slides, montages, charts and reports as required.
- Gather and analyze data from internal and external databases to support geoscience efforts.
- Coordinate geologic data on company and partner drilling wells, including interfacing with vendors to assure data is provided in a timely and accurate fashion.
- File, retrieve, create and maintain geological data (including Paleo Tops data).
- Load and update well data and well locations in existing databases using appropriate software.
- Generate and compile information required for government regulatory compliance.
- Assist with the generation and compilation of team presentation materials.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Computer Technology or closely related discipline with a minimum of 8 years of related geoscience technology experience.
- Gulf of Mexicoexperience is preferred.
- Strong computer literacy, including the use of personal computers and related software for data management, especially Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint, is also required.
- Should have a working knowledge of computer applications and a strong comprehension of technical concepts.
OTHER SKILLS
- Knowledge of acquiring, assimilating and managing data, computer mapping and solving complex problems involving computer systems and data; must be able to verify data accuracy.
- Knowledge of map units, coordinate systems and cartographic standards.
- Excellent knowledge of standard geological/geophysical displays and well logs required.
- Experience working with geospatial data and raster image georeferencing.
- Experience working with Access databases and Excel spreadsheet functions.
- Experience preparing PowerPoint slides using standard templates for internal and external reviews.
- Ability to generate maps that are easy to comprehend is also desired, and the ability to perform conventional drafting function would be beneficial.
- Must be efficient and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple assigned projects, as well as be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be goal-oriented and demonstrate willingness to learn new tasks and applications.
