Summary:

The IT Security Engineer's primary function is the operation and administration of several critical security controls for our client. This role is responsible for technical, hands-on management of malware prevention software, intrusion prevention software (network and host), network behavior analysis, security information and event management (SIEM), threat analysis and vulnerability management. In addition, this individual will assist with operational management of infrastructure security controls including, virtual private networks (VPN), application gateway, Proxy and Firewall systems. This is a 6 month + contract opportunity that requires occasional night and/or weekend work. DON'T MISS OUT - our client is ready to hire!

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and respond to operational events and service requests associated with security applications and related infrastructure.
  • Advance proper configuration and change management of security infrastructure.
  • Maintain security applications and infrastructure so that controls remain in a constant ready state to defend against threats and attacks.
  • Establish and maintain secure build standards for network devices and Servers in compliance with ACS and authoritative sources including CIS and NIST.
  • Support the Security Incident and Event Management Plan.
  • Assist with security assessments and forensic investigations.
  • Participate in IT projects to ensure that security controls are in place for the availability, confidentiality and integrity of ACS data.
  • Routinely perform security policy review for WLAN, VPN, Firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Provide reports and metrics related to security events (Real Time, trends), security incident management tracking and follow up.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5 (five) + years' experience in Information Technology (IT) with a focus in operations and system administration.
  • 3 (three) + years relevant IT Security Operations experience including Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Anti-virus, vulnerability and patch management.
  • Advanced understanding of common commercial IT security controls.
  • Advanced understanding of authentication mechanisms (eg, Windows, RADIUS, TACACS, PKI, multi-factor, etc.) and authentication solutions (eg, RSA, VeriSign, Entrust, etc.).
  • Advanced understanding of Host and Network Intrusion Prevention Systems (eg, Cisco, Checkpoint, etc.).
  • Advanced hands-on experience managing corporate virus prevention products (eg, McAfee, Microsoft, Message Labs, Symantec, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with Firewalls, proxies, and VPN (eg, Cisco, Checkpoint, Bluecoat, F5, etc.)
  • Background with security and operations incident handling
  • Familiarity with authoritative security standards including CIS, NSA, NIST, and PCI DSS
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management tools (eg, Rapid7, Qualys, Nessus, etc.)
  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft product security controls including Kerberos, Group Policy, DACLs, SACLs, security events, internal PKI, encryption, and IEEE 802.1x.
  • Advanced understanding of Wireless Ethernet (WLAN) and mobile device security controls.
  • SANS GSEC, GCIA, GCIH, or GCFW desired but not required.
  • ISC2 CISSP or ISACA CISM desired but not required.
  • CCSP or CCNP Security desired but not required.
  • MCSE+Security or MCITP desired but not required.
