Would you like to provide both network operations support and network engineering for a Cisco and Juniper based international telecommunications network?

Duties will include managing and monitoring day to day operations of the MPLS network. Configure and monitor BGP peering on IPv4 and IPv6. Configure new vpns on MPLS network. Working alongside network architects creating new core network and customer solutions.
  
Working as part of the Transmission support team you will produce technical documentation on technical issues and small projects. You will be working in a highly skilled team of senior network engineers and network architects. You need to show that you have experience of strong WAN skills. Working knowledge of OSPF, ISIS, and BGP, Qos. An appreciation of MPLS and VPN technologies. Working knowledge of LAN switching technologies; STP, RSPT, VTP domains, implement VLAN based solutions and high availability. Experience in hardware installations and cabling. Data centre experience will be an advantage.

You will be resolving faults in the access network consisting of Ericsson, SIAE and Huawei microwave equipment (both TDM and hybrid TDM/Ethernet), Huawei PTN packet traffic aggregators, Huawei and Ericsson DWDM, Ericsson optical packet nodes, Huawei CX600 Routers and leased lines from 3rd party carriers.

There will be after hours work one week out of five to:

  • Provide 24/7 L2 support on access network elements
  • Perform level 2 fault investigations and root cause analysis to resolve issues within SLAs.
  • During critical and escalated major fault rectification, participate in fault management as requested by the Incident Manager
  • Develop, maintain and perform L2 Health Checks and scripts
  • Maintain network baseline document set eg life cycle database for IP Core network elements, NIB, port allocations, RT/RD, VLAN, etc
  • Provide recommendation to the local Engineering teams on configuration, software updates and general element management as appropriate.
