A new 6 month contract opportunity exists for a Senior Project Manager to join this large scle Queensland Government Organisation based in inner CBD.

The Senior Project Manager will have broad knowledge and experience to manage and direct multiple medium to large-scale projects as part of the implementation of a replacement HR/Payroll system.


This is a new program of work incorporating a series of projects focussing on utilising new technologies, systems and processes to increase business efficiencies. The role of the Senior Project Manager will involve the management of complex, strategic projects that span organisational boundaries. 

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Project Manager will include the following:

  • Lead key projects to support the delivery of program objectives
    Manage all aspects of the project(s) including time, cost, quality, scope, risk and
  • benefits.
  • Report project status and performance through defined governance structures
    Co-ordinate acquisition and resourcing processes for technical design resources (eg  ICT hardware, software and services)
  • Liaise, co-ordinate and negotiate with internal and external service providers/vendors for the provision of other services
  • Utilise an established customer engagement model to ensure a high level of customer input and ownership
  • Ensure alignment and compliance with the Prince2 project management methodology, governance structures, processes, tools, reporting regimes and approaches
  • Produce required documentation and artefacts that contribute to delivering a project in alignment with the Queensland Government Project Management Framework

To be successful for this role you will require to hold the following key experience and skills;

  • Tertiary and/or appropriate qualifications (preferably in disciplines associated with project management) and substantial industry experience in ICT projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing large and complex technology-enabled change programs and ICT projects within a government context including the ability to manage project time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits,in the HR domain.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing transition activities after the project deliverables are complete in order to achieve full benefit realisation.
  • High level of interpersonal skills as demonstrated by successful outcomes in the areas of presentation, consultation, negotiation and change management including the ability to prepare, coordinate and present timely and accurate advice, briefings, reports and complex submissions.
  • Understanding of the principles of effective teamwork within a program environment and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and achieve effective outcomes
