Senior Technical Writer to develop and maintain multiple complex online Help systems for an enterprise-level aviation-software Web application. Senior-level experience is required in developing large RoboHTML Help systems and extremely well-developed written and verbal skills are critical to this role. This Technical Writer will be responsible for updating end-user documentation and training material in various media, including WebHelp, Word and PowerPoint presentations. This role requires an individual with 7+ years of experience writing end-user documentation in the software industry with previous experience working in an Agile environment with frequent scrums. Deliverables include complex WebHelp systems, user guides and training material, written in accordance with well-established style conventions.
Functioning independently, the successful candidate will:
- Perform research on software functions and write clear and accurate Help topics, providing delivery as per assigned target dates.
- Attend frequent team scrums, as well as interview SMEs, business analysts and developers to understand the business-process background to the software features, and then write new or update existing Help topics.
- Write informal, blog-style material that informs experienced users how their experience of the software will change with the current release.
- Update existing PowerPoint presentations to capture new/revised software features.
- Effectively manage a workload spread across multiple projects with different deadlines.
- Provide regular status reports to the project manager(s).
Outstanding English language skills are a must, especially an ability to write fluently and in clear, concise language.
In addition, we're looking for a writer with expert working knowledge of:
- Adobe RoboHelp
- Microsoft Office Suite
- any Source Control tool
- any screen capture tool
- Captivate or any other simulation tool (an asset but not a requirement)
Education:
- University degree in English or related discipline
- Diploma or Degree program in Technical Writing
