Estate Category Lead

My client is currently seeking to recruit a long term specialist procurement individual to take charge of a Key operational role reporting to the Category Manager, managing the procurement of certain sub-categories of works, goods and services (up to £50m annually) across the globe, building, developing and maintaining constructive relationships.

To take ownership for delivery of end to end procurement of certain sub-categories of works, goods and services, using appropriate procurement activities and robust contracts that adhere to the public procurement policy and legal requirements and delivering to savings targets, managing supply risks and meeting customer needs.

The scope of the role also involves:

  • Working with the Category Manager to develop, implement and manage the strategy and supporting business cases
  • Ensuring the needs of customers/internal organisational changes are fed into Category Strategies.
  • Developing project specific procurement strategies for stakeholder review
  • Assisting the Category Manager to put in place effective procurement services that meet the needs of the internal client department(s) who own the category budget(s).
  • Providing operational support to effectively work with the category client/customer department(s) to influence and prioritise procurement projects and set measurable targets eg for savings and efficiency targets, ensuring transparency of costs to track benefits

This is a specialist procurement posting covering all aspects of the procurement requirements eg building/refurbishing internal departments, engaging with internal stakeholders to define requirements, holding 'boot camps' with suppliers, ensuring timely execution of purchasing cycle activities. The job offers developmental opportunities in works procurement, project management, estates management and engagement with third party suppliers
