Sr. Application Development Project Manager

Summary:
Our client is a premier provider of global institutional investment research, consulting, and investment advisory services, located in Venice, Florida. They are looking for a hands-on Application Development Project Manager to be responsible for the delivery of enterprise-level and strategic programs/projects from inception to implementation. As the Technical Project Manager, you will be solely accountable for planning, executing and managing projects within the defined scope, quality, budget, and schedule established in the project plan. You will provide hands-on leadership and direction for technical application developers, database designers, business analysts, and business resources throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will also be responsible for executive status reporting, requirements definition, technical design/architecture, development, testing, release management, and business communication/change management. You will be the primary liaison between IT and business, manage portfolio relationships, dependencies, risk management, and issue resolution, and will ensure efficient distribution of organizational resources between the various technology teams and project initiatives. For some select and smaller projects, you will also fulfil the Business Analyst role in eliciting and documenting business requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and validation testing. This is a 6 month contract opportunity.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of project management in a RUP, Iterative, Lean, Agile, or similar software development process. Must be able to substantiate experience managing several multi-month projects using formal SDLC methodology
- Minimum of 5 years experience leading an application development team and owning project management oversight for their deliverables.
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on software development and architecture experience in Java, C, C++, .Net, or similar platforms. Coding experience must be recent - within the last 5 years
- Ability to document business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Ability to speak on behalf of the technology team in all matters with the business, and acumen to understand business needs and product strategy to represent the business within the technology team
- Demonstrated experience providing thought leadership for technology and product strategy, architecture and road maps
- Seasoned experience defining project requirements, work breakdown structures, and project effort scoping at both the rough order of magnitude (ROM) and detailed effort estimate level
- Expertise with project, requirements, and resource allocation management tools such as MS Project, JIRA, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Outstanding performer, determined and pro-active leader, exceptionally detail oriented, and driven to exceed expectations
- Skilled communicator and negotiator with outstanding interpersonal skills
- Experience in financial markets, securities trading, or related market data analytics industry preferred
- PMP Certification strongly preferred (PMBOK Version 3 or higher)
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field strongly preferred
