Description

Do you like exploration? Always wanted to be a Ranger? Do you love the fork in the road where design meets development?

The Design Rangers are looking for talented front-end and/or back-end web developer recruits ready to blaze a trail and become respective field guides in the digital forest.

We are looking for adaptable, self-motivated developers that believe good code can enhance a great design and awesome content.

We have a steady stream of projects that would be great for a freelancer or small web dev firm. Full-time freelancer preferred over developers doing work on the side. We want you to be able to give your full attention to projects you’ve signed on for. We’re comfortable working with dispersed teams, so location isn’t a big deal as long as you’re in the US. We work with a lot of outdoor and recration brands, so if that's your thing, it's a big plus.

// Required Skills:

  • Ability to create semantic layouts with HTML5 & CSS3 using well-commented code

  • Super-solid understanding of PHP, Javascript and jQuery
  • Good understanding of grid systems, layout and color, typography and a meticulous attention to pixel-level detail. You don’t have to be able to create great designs, but you should know one when you see it.

  • Understanding and experience with responsive design and frameworks like Twitter Bootstrap and ZURB Foundation or your own custom-rolled system.

  • Experience with CSS pre-processors (SASS, Compass, LESS, etc.)

  • Ability to create pixel-perfect front-end code from layered Photoshop files

  • Up-to-date knowledge on web development trends and the appetite to continually learn more

  • Ability to brainstorm UI solutions in a collaborative environment

  • Ability to integrate code into a CMS (specifically WordPress)

  • Samples of work and what you're responsibilities were on the project

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A team player that can lend ideas to a project and raise development red flags

  • Can work within budgetary constraints and knows how to simplify when necessary

  • Know how to have fun and laugh

// Nice-to-have skills:

  • Experience with Git and Github

  • Theming or Plugin coding experience with WordPress

  • Love of the outdoors

  • Database/MySQL knowledge

  • UX experience

  • Experience creating wireframes and prototypes

  • Ability to integrate with APIs
// How to Apply:

Please send an email with subject: "Authentic Jobs Coding Scout Application".

Let us know why you would be a good fit, how you like to work, your hourly/monthly pay expectations, and a link to past work. Feel free to let you personality shine through – we like to have fun around here. That said, we would rather have a short email that gets to the point rather than a full biography.
