Description
SemiBig Creative Industries is a boutique agency based in the San Francisco East Bay area. We work with Fortune 500 companies and start-ups to craft intuitive and visually-rich experiences for their web applications, software, and mobile systems—resulting in award-winning creative campaigns for brands such as Intuit, Cisco, Apple, and HP.
Our creative process includes iterative design, interactive prototypes and user testing to meet the brand, marketing, and development goals for our clients. We are there to support, extend, and enhance their brand vision—or help them develop one.
OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Web Developer with excellent communication skills to assist our other developer with ongoing efforts on a freelance basis. Our ideal candidate is very organized, flexible, willing to offer strong positions on strategies and has a decent sense of humor. While being able to write clean markup is necessary, the top requirement for this role is solid back-end engineering skills.
We offer Wordpress-based CMS solutions for our clients that always demand a great deal of extending the platform to meet individualized needs. We need someone who will search for and utilize the best tools to meet the requirements, will try to see if pre-built solutions like plugins fit the bill first, but will have no problem building the functionality from scratch if it doesn't already exist while considering security and performance. This person can work from anywhere with flexibility in schedule, but will need to be available on occasion for meetings during PST time. Big bonus if you're in the SF Bay or San Diego area!
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with our other developer to build Wordpress CMS features including the integration of third-party APIs. Offer recommendations for solutions. Develop new deployment and automation strategies (deploy scripts, cron jobs, etc). Support in general server administration. Collaborate with team on time estimates. Advocate best practices for ongoing challenges such as Wordpress security. Bring new ideas to the table and help us improve our internal processes.
REQUIREMENTS
You have to be really good with this stuff:
- PHP (Object-Oriented)
- MYSQL
- Linux Server Administration (don't have to be an expert. have to be able to get stuff done.)
- Wordpress
