Description

We have a requirement for a software engineer to support the development activities for real-time embedded code generation within the F1 application development team. The team is responsible for the design and implementation of our embedded control system applications currently used on all Formula One cars. The position involves the development, testing and support for the software systems (GDE/vTAG) used both in-house and by our customers to generate embedded application code for our high performance ECUs, including those used in F1 and NASCAR. These software systems are also used in a PC based environment, allowing low cost hardware to be used for non-real-time simulation and real-time hardware-inthe- loop test equipment. The position requires a highly motivated team player with a strong ability to see project tasks through from initial design and specification writing through to implementation, test and delivery. The fast paced development provides a challenging environment suited to engineers who can work either closely with other members of a multidisciplinary team or independently as required by the demands of the task. Our customers expect high standards and we require staff capable of meeting such demands.

The application code for the F1 control system is produced using in-house tools running on top of the Mathworks Real-Time Workshop. Exposure to this system at an internal level is necessary. In addition, knowledge of writing device driver level software for PCs (Linux or Windows) is highly desirable.
Experience with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow is required

* Experience with Mathworks Real Time Workshop is essential

* Experience of writing PC device driver is highly desirable

* Experience of workings of classical control systems is desirable

* Ability to understand and resolve problems at both system and code level

* At least 2 years' experience in modelling and applying real-time control systems

* A team player with the ability to work to tight deadlines in a multi-discipline, multiproject environment

* Self-motivation

* Knowledge of automotive or racing environments is an advantage Additional skills / Experience required

* Matlab / Simulink / RTW

* C, C++, C# Software programming

* Visual Studio programming

* VHDL programming

* XML

* ASAP 2

* ActiveX

* Automotive experience

* IEC61508

* MISRA "C"

* FMEA Educational requirements Honours degree (preferably 1st or upper 2nd) in a relevant subject such as Computer Science/Engineering, Software Design or Electronics
