Description

The Heavy Lift Supervisor will have the shared 24/7 offshore responsibility for delivering / executing all lifting operations on board one of the Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) installation vessels. The workscope for lifting includes all activities related to the offshore installation of wind turbines including the harbour site load out.
Shift pattern: 2 weeks on and 1 week off
Duration: likely to be 6 months to 1 year.


Principle accountabilities:

- Ensuring that all lifting operations within scope are carried out safely and effectively and in compliance with relevant legislation and applicable industry guidelines and standards.
- Supervising the offshore lifting operations of turbine load out and installation through the appropriate Lift Plan, Tool Box Talk at the start of every shift, project PTW system and offshore access controls with the primary focus being Health and Safety.
- Vetting all Lift Plans and associated Risk Assessments / Method Statements prior to approving them. This will involve detailed understanding of the onshore construction works for a wind farm and the ability to adapt and modify RAMS submissions to reflect the daily changing circumstances that can occur.
- Supporting the Resident Engineers, Construction Managers and Installation Leads in the execution of their roles.
- Providing the Heavy Lift Manager and WTG Installation Engineering Manager with project management reports, for inclusion in the monthly project report.
- Alerting the Heavy Lift Manager, General Site Manager, WTG Project Manager, Installation Engineering Manager to any perceived trends relating to HSE risks or transgressions developing onshore as they arise; e.g. early warning.
- Stopping any lift operation for immediate health and safety and protection of environment reasons.


Knowledge and Skills:

- Extensive offshore experience in a similar role
- Appropriate Appointed Person - Crane Supervisor training by UK accredited training provider
- Experience of ancillary tools and equipment required for lifting of wind turbine components offshore (specifically blade lifting equipment and traverse systems)
- Relevant experience in planning and executing offshore lifting operations
- Experience of heavy engineered lifting operations within the relevant scope of work
- Appropriate formal qualifications
- Understanding of applicable HSE legislation and BS 7121
- Understanding the PUWER Regulations 1998
- Understanding the LOLER Regulations 1998
