Firewall Solution Delivery Engineer - Data Center Migration (DCM) Program - for a Banking Organisation

Background:
Our client is running a program on consolidating their Data Centers with multiple streams of migration of infrastructure. They are looking for Firewall Solution Delivery Engineer with a very sound experience in having undertaken Firewall solution delivery in a DCM program.

Role: Firewall Solution Delivery Engineer

Location: Vilnius, Lithuania.

Initial contract period: 1 year

Overall Job Propose:

A Firewall Solutions Delivery Engineer is responsible for contributing to defining the Firewall infrastructure layer and strategy for the enterprise.

  • The Firewall Solutions Delivery Engineer reports to a Lead Network Engineering Technologist..
  • The Firewall Solutions Delivery Engineer is responsible for ensuring that any designs produced are in line with the current network architecture and infrastructure strategy documentation and are fit for purpose.
  • The Firewall Solutions Delivery Engineer will provide input and design to network infrastructure solutions and will have a broad knowledge across many infrastructure components.
  • Design and oversee changes to the infrastructure in support of client requirements.
  • Provide input into technical strategies for Network Services.
  • Contribute to the management of risk to ensure;
    • Compliance to regulatory and mandatory policies
    • Audit findings and Issue Assurances are fully addressed
  • Interfacing with internal stakeholders.
  • Be an active participant within the team.

Technical Competencies

Technical Knowledge - Data/Firewalls

  • Proven knowledge and expertise of specific technical platforms:
    • Detailed knowledge of all major components of network infrastructure used within the Barclays group - eg Cisco Routers and Switches, Firewalls, PBX, voice recording, call logging, IVR etc.
    • Thorough knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol Suite, VLSM, IP address allocation and IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
    • In depth detailed knowledge of the other major routed protocols used with the Barclays group.
    • A good awareness of VOIP technology and it's implementation in a Cisco Routed/Switched environment.
    • Experience of WAN routing technologies used within the Barclays group.
    • Proven experience in designing and implementing network solutions.
    • Aware of the history of networks and can explain how it came to be as it is.
    • Solid knowledge of all the major components in a vendor's solution.

Service Delivery

  • Understands how service delivery applies to own technical function:
    • Understands how to measure service delivery with metrics and targets.
    • Understands performance measurements for hardware, software or network components.
    • Familiar with key monitoring requirements and tools and techniques employed in supporting network infrastructure.

Service Support

  • Understands how service support applies to own technical function:
    • Has experience of incident & problem management disciplines.
    • Has experience in maintaining technical reference documents.
    • Familiar with technical documentation standards, guidelines and best practices
    • Ability to provide 3rd/4th level support of network infrastructure as and when required.

Security Management

  • Has a working knowledge of the key issues in implementing security within networking infrastructure:
    • Experiences with tools and techniques for securing/hardening a network infrastructure
    • Familiar with existing policies and practices
    • Has an understanding of the operational issues and considerations for securing information

IT Architecture

  • Familiar with integration and implementation issues and their architectural implications.
  • Experiences in the integration and migration of existing and planned network infrastructure solutions.
  • Assist in defining architectural principles and standards.
  • Knowledgeable about existing best practices for network technology integration.

Knowledge & Expertise

  • Awareness of industry best practices in the networking arena.
  • The ability and willingness to change direction and focus to meet shifting organisational and business demands.
  • Intellectual capacity to break down a problem or situation into its component parts, identifying implications, timeframes and sequences.
  • Attention to detail: A concern for ensuring accuracy, clarity and quality of work reflecting an underlying drive to increase efficiency and track organisational measures.

Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role

Essential
  • Proven detailed experience in designing large-scale, enterprise network solutions in large, financial institutions
  • Capable of bringing together expert knowledge from across the organisation and consolidating into a cohesive end-to-end network solution

  • The ability to effectively communicate and sell complex network solutions
  • Experience in participating in virtual teams in a complex network environment
  • Technical knowledge of all major components of network infrastructure used within the Barclays group (data, Firewalls, voice.)
  • Knowledge of the relevant protocol Suite ie for data/Firewalls - VLSM, IP address allocation and IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF and BGP routing protocols
  • Knowledge and experience of WAN routing technologies used within the Barclays group
  • Experience in implementing large and complex network solutions.
  • Knowledge of QOS.
