ProCode Institute is seeking a talented full-stack developer for a unique and exciting instructor position.

ProCode Institute (www.procodeinstitute.com) is a new web development school, located in the heart of Santa Monica, CA. ProCode aims to transform aspiring programmers into workforce-ready developers through highly focused, practical and collaborative training. We will be launching our first round of programs this summer with two evening courses, including a front-end development course and a back-end development course.

This position is an incredible opportunity to contribute to a brand new startup and work with a team of passionate and hard-working individuals. You will be directly responsible for making a life-changing impact through education, empowering students to transform their lives and advance their careers. This position will require you to teach evenings (6-10pm) two to four days per week for nine weeks, serving as a great primary job or nicely complementing a full-time or part-time job.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • A deep understanding of front-end and back-end web development
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to break down and explain complex problems and concepts to diverse populations
  • Ability to evaluate, refine and implement ProCode curriculum, testing, and teaching methodologies
  • Entrepreneurial spirit

Minimum technical requirements are:

  • 4+ years building and deploying large scale Ruby on Rails applications with large users bases
  • Mastery of TDD with RSpec, Sinatra, and/or Capybara
  • Experience with frameworks such as Node.js and Backbone
  • Expertise with Javascript, jQuery, AJAX, and HTML5/CSS3
  • Experience with libraries and extensions like Coffeescript
  • Deep understanding of databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of Git for version control
  • Great eye for design and quality UX
  • Browser compatibility including IE family
  • Proficiency with Photoshop and Illustrator
