Enterprise Data Warehouse Data Modeler

Role Description

GBI Data Modeler will work as a member of our teams comprised of Data architects, Database developers, testers, business analysts, and others to design and build new source system and Data warehouse Data models, ETL jobs, and reports to meet new and/or enhanced customer requirements.

Responsibilities
Participates in the Requirements and Analysis Phases of Projects
Work closely with the Sources (Business and IT)
Assists in interviewing business users to create and/or understand requirements
Prepares Requirements >= Data Architecture Mapping Documents
Designs and develops prototypes and solutions
Communicates Data Architecture to Business, IT & Management
Understands Technology Limitations/Features and Sets Expectations
Understands Hardware, OS, Databases
Researches New Features, Software and Tools
Understands New Releases and Migration Impacts
Generates Documentation and Training
Prepare/oversee/coordinate data model designs
Leads Prototyping Efforts
Inspects Data Architecture Solutions
Communicates Data Architecture to ETL Development
Work closely with ETL Developer to ensure high performance
Work closely with Report Developer to ensure reporting solutions
Work closely with OLAP Developer to ensure reporting solutions
Shares knowledge with others thru DA forum participation, creating How To wiki pages, leading training sessions, etc.
Create and Enforce Data Modeling/Development Standards and Processes
Coding - Follow all EDW standards and processes related to modelling and documentation
Naming - Follow all EDW standards and processes related to the naming of objects and attribute
Data Access - Follow all EDW standards and processes related to accessing the data in EDW
Documentation - Create and maintain high quality, accurate and timely documentation in the form of Data Models, other project documents and wiki pages as needed.
Owns Logical & Physical Data Models
Owns Enterprise Data Dictionary
Owns and Defines Metadata to support Erwin or Embarcadero modelling tools
Understand Transformations, Data Sources, Business, Data & Extract rules
Ensure Consistency across Implementations
Creates Conformed Dimensions
Looks for Data Cleansing opportunities
Promotes Data Quality, Data & Referential Integrity
Production Support - requires add'l skill sets, such as ETL, Scheduling, Reporting etc.

Qualifications
Strong SQL expertise is mandatory
5+ years in Enterprise Data Modeling in reporting solutions
Strong Data Modeling with ERwin OR Embarcadero
Must have worked in large Database environments
Must be familiar with 24x7 environments
Must be able to think 'outside the box' and be innovative and help out where necessary
Must be able to work in a geographically dispersed team environment
Must be able to multi-task(ie work on multiple projects at same time)
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (eg, Computer Science, Business), or equivalent experience.
Experience with relational database technology such as SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, DB2, Informix, or Sybase
