Continu is an enterprise startup reshaping the way people learn and consume information at work. We are based in both San Francisco and Melbourne (Australia) and are in search of an experienced, talented and passionate Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced team.
Responsibilities:
- Key involvement in developing and improving all aspects of the Continu application (development, testing, deployment, architecture)
- Development of quick, elegant and maintainable code
- Ensure each sprint/release fully meets the UX designers intentions
- Apply best practices to everything you do
- Select, test and integrate with leading components and APIs
- Help recruit and evaluate candidate engineers
- Train and mentor fellow engineers to help them meet their full potential
Skills & Requirements:
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
- 4+ Years of full-time Ruby on Rails development experience
- Superior understanding of design patterns in Ruby, Rails and JS
- Solid object-oriented design skills and knowledge of best practice application architecture
- Experience with modern front-end web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JS, Ajax, etc.
- Experience with JSON and REST API's
- Ability to identify simplistic and elegant solutions to large/complex problems
- Proven ability to lead a project/team
- Self motivated and superior time management skills
- Experience working in a modern and agile development environment
- Clear and effective communications skills
- Ability to maintain a fast pace and meet strict internal and external deadlines
- Experience with GitHub or BitBucket repositories (creation, maintenance and configuration)
- Experience with scalability
- Experience with AWS, Heroku, etc.
- A “get stuff done” mentality
Bonus if you have:
- Start-up experience
- Experience with Apache Solar
- Experience with project management software such as the Atlassian suite. (Jira, Confluence etc.)
- iOS Development experience
- TDD experience
- Experience in the LMS/HRIS space
