Responsibilities
  • Performs wet chemistry & physical testing of thermoplastic urethane products in the lab.
  • Performs validation protocols and follows Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
  • Handles laboratory projects and investigations.
  • Summarizes, reports and/or reviews findings.
  • Performs daily tasks within laboratory to ensure compliance with Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Communicates effectively with other employees within the organization.
  • Analyzes and interprets technical procedures and applicable governmental regulations.
SKILLS

Must be proficient in general laboratory techniques and have experience in performing a variety of methods utilizing both wet chemical and physical testing methods and performing instrument validations. Must have good organizational and time management skills. The individual should have hands-on knowledge of physical testing equipment such as MFI, tensile/compression testing, hardness and thickness testing, as well as small-scale extruder experience. The individual should also have experience with basic laboratory equipment such as balances, and titration equipment. The individual should be comfortable working with hazardous materials and understanding the proper chemical handling, use, storage and disposal and safety equipment. The individual must be knowledgeable of MSDS's and the metric system. The individual must be able to work independently and interact with plant personnel on a regular basis both written and verbally. The individual must be proficient and comfortable working with a variety of software systems for instrument control and reporting of results and well as with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The individual must be comfortable performing set routine tasks in an established time frame as well as working on independent projects requiring detailed reporting and observations.
The position requires a High School diploma/GED along with a minimum of 2 years of related laboratory experience.
