POSITION TITLE: Solution Architect
SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical ability and a demonstrated record of utilizing this skill in a business context. A liaison between internal stakeholders, technical architects and application development teams, this individual will thoroughly understand the company's business process and develop methods, tools and practices to align the technology department's policies and practice to corporate objectives. Through collaboration with development teams and stakeholders, this individual will identify business needs and objectives, analyze, document and develop business system processes with the aim of improving the efficiency and consistency of system interactions. The role will be to design and create technical documentation relating to system interface and messaging contracts, database schema and procedural definitions as well as system application and Back Office technical architectures. The candidate will be ready to hit the ground running in short duration to meet deliverables. The successful candidate must have experience in delivering Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and direction to define and document Marketwire's enterprise data architecture to support all operational platforms.
- Exercise influence and impact across the enterprise in promoting the strategic data management direction across all Marketwire departments.
- Architect efficient and reliable data extraction, transformation, and load programs (daily and initial load) functionality on a wide-range of data repositories (relational and multi-dimensional data stores).
- Analyze business requirements to evaluate and recommend optimal solutions that increase business results and/or minimize risk. Create awareness of the total cost of ownership. Contribute with stakeholders to establish priorities, to justify projects, etc.
- Participate in analysing data in source systems to identify data cleanliness issues (eg missing values, duplicate meanings, and invalid data)
- Design customization, and integration of solutions.
- Translate business requirements into appropriate and detailed architectural design documents.
Architecture Vision and Compliance
- Ensure solutions are compliant with architecture standards, governance and reference models.
- Ensure interoperability and feasibility of solutions while promoting the reuse and SOA principles.
Interaction with Peers and Stakeholders
- Facilitate architecture reviews.
- Conduct presentations to Marketwire management and stakeholders.
- Drive Solution Architecture key project milestones and ensure related project deliverables are on time, within budget, adhering to standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Very strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate with people in wide variety of areas and at various levels from technical specialists to senior executives.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in complex IT organizations in collaboration with multiple experts and teams.
- In-depth understanding of application, information and data architectures.
- Ability to balance creativity with pragmatism, concepts with practical applications.
- Strong technical skills in data modelling, process modelling, Object Oriented Analysis and design.
- Current and emerging system integration standards (SOA-related: eg WSDL, BPML)
- Familiarity with CRM Solutions such as Salesforce or other cloud based solutions.
- Familiarity with subscription management solutions such as Zuora.
- Familiarity with BI and Analytics platforms such as MicroStrategy Business Intelligence.
- Familiarity with ETL tools such as Informatica and related best practices.
- 10-15 years of experience within IT in a large Enterprise.
- Familiarity with invoicing systems such as GreatPlains.
- 5 years of experience in Solution Architecture and stakeholder engagement.
