Inspection Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Ensure highest safety standards and continuity and optimisation of hydrocarbon production
*Provide all aspects of engineering/technical support and assistance to site-based/offshore teams in relation to inspection activities
*Develop and maintain productive and constructive relationships with site-based/offshore personnel, onshore operations/technical teams and external contractors/vendors

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

*Provide specialist technical/engineering advice and guidance to site/offshore personnel in relation to inspection programmes and activities ensuring highest safety standards, a timely response to queries and minimal disruption to operations
*Provide input to the budget preparation process relating to discipline budget
*Contribute to the development of strategies for the maintenance, inspection and operation of plant/equipment to ensure that all plant and equipment meets verification and compliance requirements
*Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe and effective manner and that all interventions are controlled by authorised persons, satisfy statutory and Company standards and that no hazardous incidents or events occur
*Produce budgets and plans for specific studies or modifications, manage the cost control process and ensure closure expenditure is within acceptable % of original budget
*Ensure that maintenance and inspection activities are appropriately prioritised within operations maintenance plans
*Participate in/contribute to safety/risk analysis studies, HAZOPS, etc.
*Encourage the reporting of all incidents, ensure that incidents are investigated and monitor incident close-outs
*Conduct ad-hoc technical surveys on site/offshore and at vendor/repair locations, providing detailed technical reports identifying problems and solutions and ensuring optimum performance from contractors
*Develop and maintain good working relationships with site personnel through effective communication and by making regular visits to offshore installations and St Fergus terminal
*Develop positive and constructive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Identify opportunities to improve contractor/supplier performance, reduce costs and improve the quality of services/products supplied.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

*Suitable engineering qualification with appropriate experience in the oil and gas industry including offshore/site experience
*Detailed knowledge of legislation/regulations relevant to discipline
*Good knowledge of offshore/terminal plant and equipment and maintenance systems
*Good knowledge of maintenance/inspection systems, practices and techniques
*Good knowledge of risk assessment principles and their application to inspection programmes
*Good knowledge of DCR & PFEER
*Expertise in verification practices & systems
