Position Summary:
Under minimal supervision, serves as a lead consultant for physical and logical security systems administration, which includes infrastructure of distributed computing and LAN equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, maintain, configure and program Middleware for both local and System level applications. Provide Tier 3 support and act as escalation point for Tier 2 support.
  • Configure, program and manage Middleware applications outsourced to service providers such as General Computing Services (GCS), and various vendors. Coordinate maintenance activities with third party entities. Provide Tier 3 support and act as escalation point for Tier 2 support.
  • Monitor and respond appropriately to alerts and escalate issues as needed. Provide input to third party entities on troubleshooting efforts to standardize and methodize procedures and to streamline processes.
  • Configure and maintain hardware prevalent throughout the system in support of the Video Surveillance PMO
  • Provide Tier 3 support and act as escalation point for Tier 2 support.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex incidents and document actions taken and suggest necessary changes in the Remedy system. Update National Service Desk (NSD) Wikis, as needed.
  • Plan and implement technical change requests using the Remedy system. Participate in district change management meetings. Provide input/feedback to the district's change management process. Determine how other indirect environment changes could impact supported applications.
  • Participate and/or act as a lead resource on many complex technology projects while balancing operational work.
  • Research and implement necessary patches, hotfixes, service packs, cumulative updates, and upgrades to meet security compliance and application integrity of both support Middleware and specialty applications.
  • Research, analyze and design complex/unique surveillance technology solutions. Participate in planning and execution of intra-district projects and inter-district projects.
  • Ensure application availability by maintaining hardware and software integrity through capacity planning to meet changing demands.
  • Train and coach district System Administrators, Technicians and Analysts.

    Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficient in operating systems, such as Microsoft, Linux, Unix,
  • Basic knowledge of database systems, such as Informix, SQL, MySQL and Oracle.
  • Proficient in access control systems, such as GE Picture Perfect, Facility Commander. Software House C-Cure/Andover Continuim
  • Basic knowledge of Scripting products, such as Bash scripts, Visual Basic Scripting, DOS scripts, SQL scripts and PowerShell.
  • Basic knowledge of ticketing systems, such as Remedy.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Basic knowledge of computer components, such as Storage Area Network, Servers and personal computers.
  • Basic understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite.
  • Basic understanding of the Microsoft Group Policy.
  • Basic understanding of file/share permissions.
  • Basic understanding of DNS, DHCP and WINS.
  • Basic understanding of backup/recovery methods.
  • Basic knowledge of surveillance equipment, including cameras, Digital Video Recorders, Network Video Recorders, Card Readers, Motion detectors and intrusion alarms.
  • Basic knowledge of work aids, such as blue prints, schematics, and wiring, topology and rack elevation diagrams.
  • Basic knowledge of basic hand tools and electrical diagnostic tools, such as multi-meters, toners and punch-down tools.

    Education and Experience:
    B.A., B.S. or other baccalaureate/undergraduate degree with a major or specialized courses in: Computer Science or related field of study with demonstrated experience, or equivalent experience.
