Description
The Systems Validation Engineer will work closely with the electronic hardware, software and firmware engineering Teams to take responsibility for the End-to-End System qualification of a distributed microcontroller and server-based product for telecom applications. The role requires the Engineer to devise, develop and deliver specialist test tools and facilities to automate aspects of the validation work, including the user interfaces together with linking with the domain Teams to understand their test strategies.A central part of the role will be to ensure that the validation documentation is coherent and everything 'links together'. The job requires extensive interaction with different Validation and Engineering Teams and so very good soft skills with excellent English verbal and written skills will be vital.
Typical work activities include:
- Working as part of a closely coupled, flexible and coherent development team to deliver the project
- Working with the engineering Teams to identify the project-specific end-to-end validation needs and provide pragmatic guidance on suitable DFT strategies
- Devising and developing cost- and time-effective test models / simulators to attain the maximum relevant coverage with minimal effort
-Running the tests and liaising closely with the development Teams.
- Documenting the validation methods and results to a good commercial standard.
The essential skills/attributes are: -
- Strong experience, over at least 5 years, of working with small, highly skilled design teams, successfully delivering end-to-end system validation on challenging cost, time and performance targets.
- Solid experience in the end-to-end validation of distributed, multi-technology systems including hardware, embedded code and server platforms
- Development of effective test tools, simulators, test benches and systems
- Strong experience with modern development test engineering strategies.
- Experience with In-Circuit Emulators, Debuggers and analysis tools.
- Ability to provide professional level consultancy on validation test strategies.
Desirable skills: additional ideal experiences should include :-
- Electronic hardware engineering experience.
- Server / Database performance and load testing
- Some working knowledge of configuration management systems,
- Server and database configuration
