An opportunity for an industry experienced Financial Accountant to join the finance team at an AIM listed Oil & Gas business in Central London.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Group Assurance Accountant will be an audit trained ACA, ideally from a top 10 advisory firm, with strong understanding of financial control procedures. Experience of the Oil, Gas, Energy or Mining sectors is beneficial.

The role will involve periodic travel to the Middle East.

Reporting & Assurance Reporting:
- Preparation of half-year and full-year financial statements for group and subsidiaries
- Determination of key accounting judgements
- Preparation of monthly, half-year and -year end journals as required
- Reconciliation of key balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Assist with monthly management reporting pack preparation, including KPI reporting
- Assist with external audit as required
- Assist with ad hoc projects and corporate activities such as financial reporting procedures review

Assurance
- Point of contact for internal auditors
- Devise implementation strategies for internal audit recommendations and oversee roll-out
- Create and maintain internal policy and procedure documents for group operations; including inance manuals, treasury policy, budgeting policy, authorisation for expenditure)
- Design and implement reviews of process and procedure operating effectiveness; with a particular focus on overseas operations
- Reporting findings and recommendations to management and Audit Committee; implement improvements
- Take responsibility for transfer pricing strategy and associated documentation
- Conduct reviews of standing data such as chart of accounts, vendor information and implement improvements
- Review finance processes with a view to improving quality of reporting and data input and speeding up the reporting cycle
- Review of risk mitigation strategies and updating of risk registers
- Ad-hoc projects as required, commensurate with the needs of an expanding business and the requirement to upscale activities

Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant
- Sound knowledge of IFRS
- Experience of internal audit and/or control & process reviews
- Upstream oil and gas or energy-related industry experience advantageous
