My client has a global presence and is widely recognised as a market leader within the development of wireless technologies. Due to continued growth my client is looking to recruit a number of engineers for their headquarters in Cambridge.

The Role:
The role of the Test Engineer is to develop software for My clients range of wireless chips.

This may be either embedded software running on the on-chip processors or associated software running on a host processor. This may be testing either embedded software running on the on-chip processors or associated software running on a host processor. As the role involves a substantial amount of scripting using languages such as perl, python, experience of software development is required.

Responsibilities:
  • Develops and tests software of moderate scale and complexity to agreed timescales under moderate supervision
  • Contribute to requirements capture and task definition
  • Maintenance of software including defect investigation
  • Delivery of high quality software in line with the department's processes
  • Contributes to the creation of relevant documentation following the department's processes
  • Conducts peer software reviews


Required Skills:
  • Degree (or equivalent qualification/ experience) in maths/science/software/electronics
  • Proven commercial or equivalent experience of at least one level scripting /programming language
  • Good understanding of software testing techniques
  • Understanding of debug techniques
  • Understanding of configuration management
  • Keen interest in software testing as a career


Desired Skills:
  • Experience of wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth, UWB or Wi-Fi
  • Experience of configuring and using automated software tools
