Fantastic opportunity for a Compiler Engineer in Bristol! Proteus Europe, operating as an employment agency is seeking a Compiler Engineer to work in Bristol on a permanent basis. Our client is looking for a Compiler Engineer to become an integral member of their experience development team.As a Compiler Engineer your work will focus on developing compiler optimizations for code performance and code size for PS Vita and PlayStation®3, and will also include:
  • Triage and resolution of bugs in the existing code base and customer code
  • Performance analysis and ideas for code improvement
  • New compiler features
  • Customer support
  • Development of test frameworks for testing new features or existing functionality
  • Harnessing of full game sources for performance and correctness


Qualifications and Experience
  • BSc or higher degree in Computer Science or engineering, or equivalent
  • Two years relevant industrial experience
  • Applications are invited from new graduates who can demonstrate an interest in compilers and languages in their academic careers


Key technical Skills
  • An understanding of computer architectures at the ISA level
  • An understanding of the compilation and code generation process
  • Good understanding of C++ and C
  • Ability to understand and work with an existing complex source base
  • Ability to diagnose problems by a logical process of experiment and deduction even in a code base you are not an expert in
  • Experience with the Microsoft development process


Desirable technical skills
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience or strong interest in the computer games industry
