This client is one of the leading energy operators in Northern Europe. Their business is based on producing and distributing energy and related products across Europe. This blue chip organisation is growing at a remarkable pace in Europe. The client is looking for an onshore Substation Site Engineer. This individual will act as a Engineers` Representative as part of a team supervising the build of the onshore kv Substation based in Hull.Working pattern may include weekend working on rota basis based on nominal 5 x 10 hr days per week.
Main Responsibilities
- To ensure that site based activities are efficiently managed by the Contractor
- Provide oversight to ensure effective monitoring of site construction works and the Quality Test Plan.
- Inspect workmanship and report observations to Package Lead.
- Review and assess suitability of the Contractors` site commissioning documentation and Method Statement.
- Contribute to the development of safe testing practices.
- Review, inspect and confirm acceptability to the appropriate standards of all mechanical and electrical systems on the platform, to include all HV plant & apparatus, LV and auxiliary systems. Identify changes/improvements where appropriate.
- Represent the client throughout the lifecycle of site commissioning of all primary and secondary electrical systems, including wiring, functional, HV, SCADA systems.
- Accurately record testing results and deviations from contractual standards.
- Contribute to and maintain an ongoing list of Quality Issues.
- Contribute to the overall scheduling of commissioning activities.
Key skill requirements
- Prior experience of site commission or Representative role.
- Demonstrate knowledge of equipment schematics and wiring diagrams including fault finding, numerical relay configuration, and testing, SCADA systems, operation and testing of equipment protection systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of NG, BS & IEC installation and testing standards relating to HV substations.
- Basic Project Site Management skills including management of risk, HSSE awareness, quality, cost and time.
- Awareness of Contract Management within fixed price contract.
- Minimum ONC/HND in relevant Engineering discipline.
