An experienced Security Operations Centre (SOC) Manager is needed by Manning Global for one of our clients, a leading International Telecommunications Company, on a contract basis in the UK
Job Description:
A Security Operations Centre (SOC) Manager to undertake a key role in expanding our current capabilities as a Managed Security Services Provider. You will help design, implement and evolve the end to end processes and procedures required to deliver a security monitoring, reporting and incident management capability, within a SOC, for various Telecom Operators and service providers.
Your team will proactively monitor real-time events to identify security incidents by utilising our leading Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) solutions.
The successful candidate will have solid Management experience ideally within a SOC / NOC / NMC 24/7 environment, understanding of IT security systems and have a genuine interest in Information Security. Key Responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for providing a proactive security monitoring and incident management service to the client
• Managing the team of SOC analysts (working shifts) including mentoring, support, appraisal etc
• Own SOC related reporting and reviews with Client and SaaMS Operations Manager
• Continuous capability development, improvement and service enhancement support
• Provide major incident escalation support (including out of hours)
• Help recruit and train key service resources within your team
• Work with the delivery team and existing operations organization to define and build the overall Security as a Managed Service capability.
• Provide regular internal and client reporting on security incidents and SOC activities / findings, providing where applicable, recommendations and advice on remediation activities.
• Participate in client meetings to review service levels, improvement options and where applicable tuning of the technologies.
• Work with the Risk & Compliance Manager for any audit and compliance activities.
• Be commercially aware, understand ITC cost drivers and ensure cost effective ITC service delivery for the business
• Ensure SOC security initiatives are budgeted with the right levels of both Opex and Capex
Qualifications:
• Previous management or team leader experience required.
• Strong technical security skills across multiple disciplines
• In-depth understanding of IT and Telecom infrastructure and services
• Technical understanding of network infrastructures and application technologies, preferably in the Telecoms Industry
• Familiarity of PCI DSS and NICC ND 1643 standards / compliance requirements
• Understanding of Intrusion Detection Systems and threats detected (DDOS etc)
• Knowledge of vulnerability scanning technologies (QUALYS) and report output
• Knowledge of Operating Systems (Linux, Unix, Windows) and hardening activities
• Very good awareness of existing and emerging threats.
• Good inter-personal and team working skills
