Purpose of Role:

The Role of the Technical Lead is to act as a Subject Matter Expert for the Oracle Database Services group, be a thought-leader in the specific technology area, develop technical roadmaps for the group, extending the capabilities of the technology in place, and expanding into related technology areas where applicable to increase efficiency and optimize costs.

Budgetary:

•Contribute to project costing.
•Design new, or re-engineer existing services with a view to optimize efficiency and minimize cost

People Management:

•Knowledge sharing and mentoring of less experienced team members
•Technical Project Management of Oracle Database Services projects

Responsibilities:

•Solutions Design / Engineering
•Defining how best to implement new solutions, or re-engineer existing processes to optimize efficiency and cost
•Subject Matter Expert for the Oracle Database Services area and therefore the primary technical interface for projects and problems.
•Drive continuous improvement across the Oracle Database Services estate
•Manage technical projects from an Oracle Database Services perspective
•Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Oracle Database Services team as required
•Contribute to the 24/7 on-call cover provided to critical services.

Knowledge/Expertise/Qualifications:

•Proven track record of thought leadership within a database technology area.
•Proven track record of solving complex technology problems across a wide range of areas.
•Ability to take a high-level and forward-thinking approach to solving problems and implementing new solutions.
•Strong database management experience in a production support capacity, preferably in an e-gaming or high transactional online business.
•Experience in project work – taking ownership of tasks assigned, contribute to project costs/effort estimates, and ensuring that tasks are delivered on time and to budget with relevant feedback on possible delays provided to the Project Manager.
•Strong problem solving and analytical skills
•Strong mentoring and interpersonal skills – capable of communicating and influencing at departmental level and with both technical and non-technical individuals
•Strong technical background with a particularly deep understanding of the following:
•Distributed application architectures
•Experience working in the gaming sector or comparable high volume e-business
•Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong service focus
•Experience of supplier engagement
•Experience of contributing to resource/capacity planning for a team and a track record of productivity improvement whilst maintaining customer satisfaction levels
•Experience in database maintenance in a high data volume and high security environments
•Driven, robust, self-motivated, delivery focused and able to withstand 24/7 pressure, and to challenge and be challenged
•Embraces change and continuous improvement – thrives on change and is continually looking for new ways to improve operations and capabilities

o Oracle PL/SQL Performance Tuning
o Oracle Data Guard
o Recovery Manager (rman) with Veritas NetBackup
o Solaris 10/11, Zones, LDOM’s, Clustering, Scripting

•Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
•Experience of software development lifecycle methodologies and principles
