Role Project Accountant

Skills - Retail Banking - Business Change

Purpose of the role

The role sits within the Project Finance function, which manages all reporting, control and governance requirements across the portfolio. The successful candidate will support and assist the Finance Manager by delivering a range of high level technical support tasks including cost management and forecasting, headcounting planning, objectives. Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for managing financials for certain segments of a multi year portfolio.
  • Supporting the management accounting framework, including cost engine that drives all reporting.
  • Business partnering the project manager community to ensure tight governance and adherence to policies.
  • Report generation for Portfolio financials.
  • Engaging with suppliers to ensure interlocked numbers are challenged and robust, including attending various committees.

Core Skills

  • Highly motivated, proactive and attention to detail
  • Cost management experience with excellent business partnering skills.
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people including challenging stakeholders
  • Advanced knowledge  of all standard Microsoft applications (Including MS Project, Word, PowerPoint & Excel)
  • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, data manipulation and presentation.
  • Willingness to help drive and support the resolution of issues.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of Banking and Finance & 3rd party vendors.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working in a fast paced project finance environment or cost environment.
  • Proven ability to manage own workload.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to challenge stakeholders effectively.
  • Qualified Accountant with minimum 3-5 years PQE.
  • Previous banking/finance experience preferable.
  • Any experience of previous large scale integration and or transformation programmes would be advantageous.
