Role Title: E-Learning Interactive Designer
Duration: 6 months
Location: Central London

Assignment:

Develops high quality E-learning content that involves writing code using specialist tools and software delivering robust and resilient training via the NCALT MLE (Managed Learning Environment) to support key legislative and regulatory police training.

Key tasks:

*Designs graphics, animations, video and digital illustrations for E-learning as defined in the design solution and specification. Develops a visual approach for each project from storyboarding to final production.
*Creates 2D and 3D interactive visual design for use in media rich virtual environments that is delivered through E-learning or simulation training
*Designs content in collaboration with producers, interactive designers, developers and testers.
*Designs the screens in collaboration with producers, instructional designers, developers and testers.
*Directs video, and photographic shoots with actors to a defined scenario to capture footage ready for post production.
*Edits audio recordings of voiceovers, ambient sounds and audio narratives to a required format for E-learning
*Define, create and influence E-learning design to achieve optimal levels of usability that includes screen design/layout/consistency and response times
*Provides regular updates on progress, risk and issues to Project Manager and Producer and attends regular project meetings to gather information and escalate issues
*Adheres to recommended coding standards and applies best practice for maintaining version control.

Key deliverables and timescales:

*Understanding and applying technical knowledge to meet a variety of complex learning requirements
*Producing all visual and interactive elements to fulfil the established learning needs and implement interactive design strategies for a learning solution
*Responsible for making the technical and creative decisions necessary to provide a product that is visually stimulating to various audiences in the policing community from Initial Leadership to Gold Command
*Interactive design as part of an E-learning product delivered to meet specified learning outcomes
*Maintenance of audio Visual Studio and equipment
*Recommendations on new learning technologies including benefits analysis and prototyping sample content
*Defence of the needs of the learner in face of competing drivers for delivery, SME and sponsor requirements
*Meeting deadlines specified by the Producer
*Duration of projects typically 3-6 months
*Limited interdependencies with other projects
*Without strong interactive design learning will not take place and policing performance will not change.
*The delayed release of E-learning impacts the reputation of the College

Qualifications required:

*Qualification in interactive design, graphic design and audio visual techniques from a third-level body or industry equivalent
*Qualification: Degree level in interactive design, multimedia design or illustration

Experience required (Essential Skills):

* Extensive experience in producing creative and innovative visual solutions in a complex web environment demonstrating the ability to think in challenging situations

Experience required (Desirable Skills):

* Learning Management Systems (LMS): A good working knowledge of E-learning creation, associated tools and Learning Management Systems
* Knowledge across the sector applying research in new design technologies to the benefit of the team, projects and services

Other Specialist Skills and/or Knowledge Required:

Specialist Software: Extensive experience working as an interactive designer using Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects or Premier, 3D Studio Max and Sketchup Professional
